Workforce Development
A technically skilled aerospace workforce is essential to the overall success of space development. The President's Commission on the Future of the United States Aerospace Industry recommended that "the nation immediately reverse the decline in, and promote the growth of, a scientifically and technologically trained U.S. aerospace workforce." The Commission added: "In support of this, the nation must address the failure of the math, science and technology education of Americans. The breakdown of America's intellectual and industrial capacity is a threat to national security and our capability to continue as a world leader."
Recognizing the vital importance of ensuring that our nation's aerospace workforce does not lose critical capabilities, NADC is committed to promoting aerospace workforce development efforts throughout the United States. In addition to collaboration with industry, NADC maintains close working relationships with Federal, State, and local governments. Notable ties at the Federal level involve the Department of Labor, Department of Commerce, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), NASA, the Department of Education, and the Department of Defense. At the State and local levels, NADC encourages information sharing on successful programs, as well as innovative approaches involving incentives and grants.
